Description

Farol da Criatividade (Lighthouse of Creativity) has evolved into a robust educational innovation ecosystem and a school cooperative based in São Leopoldo, Brazil. Powered and primarily sponsored by the Fundo Social Sicredi Pioneira, our lab operates as a 3D Lab Farm, where we empower elementary students (1st to 9th grade) to lead the production of educational solutions, toys, and games.

Our flagship project, Fortalezas Mágicas (Magical Fortresses), also driven by Sicredi Pioneira's support, is a modern board game that integrates digital fabrication, local history (celebrating Germanic and Indigenous cultures), and literature. We have pushed technological boundaries by implementing ArcanAI, a custom game assistant built with Google’s Gemini API and Vertex AI. Our lab has successfully shifted the pedagogical paradigm: 100% of our practical activities are now integrated into official student assessments, moving away from traditional testing to real-world community solutions.

We believe that the "learning by doing" philosophy is essential for 21st-century skills. Our activities are deeply committed to the 2030 Agenda, focusing on:
SDG 4 (Quality Education): Enhancing STEAM education for students and teachers.
SDG 9 (Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure): Providing a space for local prototyping and social innovation.
SDG 10 (Reduced Inequalities): Offering free access to technology for the community.
SDG 11 (Sustainable Cities and Communities): Developing local solutions for urban and environmental challenges.
Sala Criativa serves as a collaborative environment where ideas become reality, preparing our citizens to build a more sustainable and equitable future.

Farol da Criatividade, alongside Sala Criativa (https://www.fablabs.io/labs/salacriativa another school FabLab), is part of the educational innovation ecosystem of Dr. Paulo da Silva Couto Municipal Elementary School.
