About Fablab Xtrene

Fablab Xtrene in Almendralejo, Badajoz, Spain is more than a workspace — it is a launchpad for innovation in Spain. the lab offers state-of-the-art equipment, including 3D printers, laser engravers, electronics benches, and CAD workstations, within a collaborative, community-driven environment. Startups use the space to build early-stage hardware prototypes; educators run practical STEM sessions for school groups; and independent makers pursue personal projects with expert support on hand. Regular themed hackathons and innovation challenges help participants push boundaries and connect with like-minded creators across Badajoz. With a strong focus on learning by doing, Fablab Xtrene embodies the global maker movement's ethos of open, collaborative, hands-on creativity.

Description

Xtrene collaborates with schools that want to change the traditional educational model.
Currently we work in the diffusion of the maker movement and its impact in different sectors of our region (Education, art, medicine, entrepreneurs, ...). Xtrene has a small mobile laboratory that traverses rural populations of our environment.
The goal in 2017 is to acquire a laser cutter, which will allow xtrene is mini Fab Lab
Updated (08/2018): we already have a laser cutter (500mm x 700mm - 80w power).
Corona:
In response to Covid19, we have created a community (Makers Tierra de Barros) from Fablab Xtrene, as a subdivision of the CoronavirusMakers movement, which has worked to manufacture more than 4,000 face mask shields, Emergency mask for hospital ventilators (collaboration with the CoVida community), Surgical mask Ear Savers, "Open Doors PLA" and Methacrylate preotection screens.
