Description

Fab Lab Aleppo by Sanad Youth is a creative and educational space where young people learn, experiment, and build using modern digital fabrication tools such as 3D printers, laser cutters, CNC machines, and electronics workstations. The lab empowers Syrian youth to explore ideas, gain practical STEAM skills, and turn concepts into real prototypes through hands-on learning, guided training, and community collaboration.

At its core, the lab is driven by a clear vision: to empower Syrian youth and cultivate a strong, reliable tech community capable of driving local innovation and developing solutions to the challenges facing our society. This mission guides every workshop, project, and community initiative hosted in the space.

The lab offers a wide range of services, including:

Hands-on Workshops: Regular practical sessions in digital fabrication, electronics, 3D printing, laser cutting, CNC machining, programming, and prototyping—enabling youth to build real technical competencies while working with expert mentors.

Prototyping Consulting & Support: Tailored guidance to help young innovators transform ideas into functional prototypes. This includes technical advice, design support, scope definition, and general mentoring on tools, methods, and project direction.

Project Incubation & Mentoring: For advanced ideas, the lab provides a structured incubation pathway focused on growth, sustainability, and turning prototypes into viable, impactful solutions. Teams receive equipment access, expert follow-up, and continuous guidance.

Events & Networking: The lab hosts public exhibitions, competitions, and tech gatherings to showcase youth projects, build confidence, and connect innovators with partners, sponsors, and potential users.

Leveraging Local Expertise & Community Challenges: By collaborating with local craftsmen, farmers, and professionals, the lab helps young people design solutions rooted in real needs—combining global technology with local knowledge for sustainable impact.

As part of Sanad Youth for Development, Fab Lab Aleppo also plays a key role in promoting a culture of innovation through youth-focused tech competitions such as RFG Youth, RFG Teens, technical exhibitions, and recently by organizing Software Freedom Day Aleppo, contributing to the global Free & Open-Source movement.
