About Fablab Upa

Fablab Upa in San Lorenzo, San Lorenzo/Central/Paraguay, Paraguay is more than a workspace — it is a launchpad for innovation in Paraguay. the lab offers state-of-the-art equipment, including 3D printers, laser engravers, electronics benches, and CAD workstations, within a collaborative, community-driven environment. Startups use the space to build early-stage hardware prototypes; educators run practical STEM sessions for school groups; and independent makers pursue personal projects with expert support on hand. Regular themed hackathons and innovation challenges help participants push boundaries and connect with like-minded creators across San Lorenzo/Central/Paraguay. With a strong focus on learning by doing, Fablab Upa embodies the global maker movement's ethos of open, collaborative, hands-on creativity.

Description

The principal activity for the lab is teaching to our industrial engineering students design and using de digital manufacturing for make prototyping We have a laser cutter Epilog, five 3D printers (Printrbot, Creality, Flashforge, Markerbot), an Inventables CNC milling machine, a Roland Vinil Cut, a Nextengine 3D scanner and various hand tools. We have experience creating PCB, 2D and 3D design, printing customized parts and making cuts with our existence equipment.
We are developing different projects of social inclusion in the use of the laboratory, as well as collaboration with other local universities and ONG's.
In the FabLab we also have robotics kits and have already participated in the last international tournament or VEX Robotics Worlds, some parts of our mechanisms were manufactured in our FabLab.
