About Fablab Sendai

Fablab Sendai is a community Makerspace in Sendai, Miyagi, Japan, Japan. it provides open access to digital fabrication tools, electronics labs, and collaborative workspaces for students, educators, entrepreneurs, and independent makers. Members can work with 3D printers, laser cutters, CNC routers, and electronics prototyping equipment to turn ideas into functional prototypes. The space hosts regular STEM workshops, coding sprints, and design thinking sessions that attract talent from across Miyagi. Whether you are a first-time maker or a seasoned hardware engineer, Fablab Sendai offers the tools, community, and mentorship needed to build, iterate, and innovate — making it one of the most valuable innovation resources in Japan.

Description

FabLab SENDAI – FLAT started not only as a “place for making things” but also “a place where you can meet something interesting and things” in May 2013 .

In Open Day that we opens the lab’s door to our city with the goal of improving people’s literacy of design, we offer services depends on user’s level and work on making things, such as providing work support, product development support, educational programs, etc.

One of FabLab Sendai’s main projects theme is “Think about the future of manufacturing based on crafts, materials, technology.” We are committed to educational activities of traditional crafts through workshops, research about technology succession, redesign and prototype of craft instruments with digital fabrication.
